Addressing HIV and SGBV amongst young women, adolescent girls and sex workers

Project Location: Harare North and Harare South Districts: Dzivarasekwa, Hopley, Southlea Park, Ushewokunze and Stoneridge

Objectives

  • Improved Friendly HIV and SRH service provision by District health, police personnel and other service providers to key populations
  • Increased awareness of SRH and HIV in the project area
  • Key Populations are economically empowered by December 2023

Project Description

  • The project is aimed at strengthening community systems and structures to identify and manage SGBV, and HIV cases and;
  • Providing  an alternative source of income to AGYW and sex workers so that they can transition from risky income-generating activities

The above outcomes are realized through implementing the following activities_:

  • Community mobilization
  • TOT Community volunteers with the representation of SWs, AGYW, LGBTQI
  • Community dialogues with parents, guardians and community  leaders
  • Monthly dialogues with SW, AGYW, LGBTQs
  • Gender norms and transformative sessions (bi-monthly)
  • Multi-stakeholder lobby and advocacy sessions for service provision
  • Quarterly feedback meetings with stakeholders
  • TOT of frontline health workers
  • Cascade training of frontline health workers
  • Refresher training of frontline health workers
  • Identification and training of friendship bench focal persons
  • Cascade ISAL training
  • Vocational training for SW and YWs and provision of Start-up kits
  • Printing of manuals  and IEC materials
  • Sporting tournament
